최근들어 국내에서도 혈류조절 가압트레이닝 (Blood Flow Moderation Training)에 대한 관심이 점차 높아짐에 따라, “가압트레이닝이 뭔지?”“정말 효과가 있는지?” “과학적인 근거는 있는지?”“어떤벨트를 사용해야 하는지?”“고무줄 또는 아무 스트랩이나 묶고 운동해도 되는지?”“혈류를 제한하는데 부작용은 없는지?” “고혈압 당뇨병이 있어도 가능한지?” 등등 많은 문의가 오고 있습니다.
이러한 가압트레이닝에 대한 연구는 이미 20년 전부터 시작되어 현재는 국내외 막론하고 수 백편 이상 운동, 재활 분야의 연구에서 효과를 검증하였으며 계속 진행 중입니다. “안전한” 가압트레이닝은 혈류를 제한하는 것이 아니라, 정맥혈류를 조절해야 하며 반드시 동맥혈의 폐색은 일어나지 않아야 합니다. 또한, 숙련자가 아닌 초보자의 경우 숙련된 지도자에 의해 운동 중 혈색, 압박수준 및 말초혈관의 산소포화도를 확인할 수 있는 최소한의 “안전장치”가 필요합니다.
특히, 현재 국내 외 아0존등에 일부 판매되는 탄성소재가 아닌 단순 스트랩 형태의 벨트를 사용하여 운동하는 것은 대단히 위험할 수 있습니다. 이러한 벨트는 위험성을 예방 할 수 있는 안전장치, 주의사항 및 프로토콜이 전혀 제시되지 않으며, 오로지 구매자의 주관적인 “느낌”만으로 트레이닝이 진행됩니다. 이와 관련하여 국내 외 가압트레이닝의 효과를 검증한 연구들에 있어 어디서도 “단순한 스트랩”형태를 사용하여 효과검증이 된 연구는 찾아볼 수가 없으며 대부분 연구에서는 의료용 공압식 지혈대 또는 전문 공압식 장비를 사용하여 안전성이 확보된 후 검증을 하였습니다.
다시말해, 이미 우리가 알고있는 가압트레이닝의 효과는 일부 유사 가압벨트의 효과 및 안전성과 일치한다고 보기 어려우며, 안전성이 확인되지 않은 벨트 및 프로토콜로 인한 신체적 피해는 누구에게도 보상 받을 수 없습니다.
